Blurred Resolve

I plan to wake up early,
Though I know it won’t last a week.
I resolve to help with the dishes,
Though I know the chances are bleak.

Less fighting, more studying-
Even I don’t believe my resolutions.
It might barely last a few days
Before I decide it’s a nuisance.
But I plan to save my allowance,
To cut down on my sweet tooth,
Though I know, the next day,
I will be outside the candy booth.
These are just a few blurred resolutions,
Strong stands though I will surely cave,
Penned hastily under the flickering lights,
At the New Year’s rave.
